2005
Sam Wrisley and Doug Marcum from Harvest along with two other men travel to Liberia with a ministry called Revive Liberia to train pastors. This was two years after the end of a 14 year civil war.
2007
On a second trip with Revive Liberia Sam, Doug and Drew Wright from Muncie traveled overseas. They were part of an eye doctor clinic that saw over 1,000 patients and held another training with over 500 pastors. – “Amazing 80” was held at Harvest; a goal of getting 80 businesses/individuals to participate in raising enough money to build a church structure in Liberia
2009
The first trip separate from Revive Liberia was a solo trip from Harvest Christian Church with 26 people. During this trip they gave away our first 8 water systems (Which were provided by a fundraiser by Harvest VBS), held our first VBS, and put on a women’s program.
2010
Hope 2 Liberia Incorporated became recognized as a national non-profit headquartered in Muncie, IN
2010
A trip was taken in October to purchase to land from Old Pa Wrutoe
2011
We held our first medical trip in the country – The work was finished on Battery Factory Road Church – A well was built in Wrutoe Village and another well was dug at our Hope land
2012
A trip was taken to hold a pastor’s training
2012
Ground was officially broken for the Hope Center
2013
Early in the year a dedication for the Hope Center took place – Hope Academy begins under a tree on the Hope land – In the fall our first group stayed at the Hope Center – A water purification system is put in for the Hope Center – Sonny Thomas joins the team as Liberian in-country director
2014
The foundation was laid for Hope Academy and the first teacher’s training was held
2014
Sam went over alone during the Ebola Crisis to share that they were not alone
2015
Aid was sent for food during the Ebola Crisis and 500 bags of rice were distributed
2015
There was a teacher’s conference and the first school “graduation” (promotion) from Kindergarten to 1st grade
2015
October of this year the roof of the school was put on with a crane truck and students moved from under the tree to inside the Hope Center to finally having classes in the school
2016
We laid the foundation of the lodge; a building to be future housing for missionaries – Our first staff training is held – A well was put in at Sonny’s mom’s village in Sinkor
2017
Further in the interior of the country, a water system was put in in Ganta – Kathy visits Uganda in the fall, – The construction of the lodge was completed – Drew Jeffers had an internship with HOPE2 in May to lay the soccer field at Hope Academy – Our first full-time missionary, Lindsey Jeffers, moves into Hope Center at the end of the year – We sent two students, Peace and Motare, to agricultural college in Ganta – Hope Stories was written by Sam and published – The mission organization transitioned to the name HOPE2 due to God’s calling for us to reach more countries than just Liberia – 225 water systems were sent to Puerto Rico
2018
Our first team traveled to Uganda – A natural disaster blows off the roof of the school and the lodge – Solar project construction to supply our Hope land with solar power – First visit to the blind school – First visit to the Gbarnga Central Prison – Our medical clinic for the school and community opened
2019
A solar well was put in at Fairshake Village near River Cess as well as a solar well in Cape Mount – Hope Christian Church began – HOPE2 took an exploratory trip to Nicaragua, – Water systems were sent to Vietnam and Thailand during crisis
2020
Sells family moves over into lodge as HOPE2 missionaries – Hope Academy continues schooling via radio during the pandemic – We began a water system project at the prison in Gbarnga – A school roof celebration took place in August of 2020, after 6 months of limitations on travel, for the completion of the school’s new roof -CORE training was held – Hope North agricultural land was established
2021
The Rabenstein family moves over into the lodge as missionaries – A young adult conference was held for the community with over 400 attendees – Leadership training took place in Uganda – The virtual mission trip was filmed and created – We put on our first Annual Revive Retreat for missionaries serving in Liberia – Peace and Motare graduated from agricultural college – The Hope campus water tower was built – A wall was built at the blind school and a water system installed there – Construction began on the HOPE2 apartments – A team traveled to Mexico on a mission trip – A new addition of a foyer was added to the school – A well was dug for Hope Academy – Olive Tempest did an internship in country with HOPE2
2022
The water system was completed at the prison -An outdoor kitchen for school built and construction began on the school cafeteria – In Uganda, ground was broken for the Ugandan Hope Center – 54TEN Initiative began with the goal of holding pastor’s trainings in all 54 African countries over the next 10 years – Hope Academy’s youth group, Hope Youth Ministries (HYM), was started – Bathroom plumbing was installed at the blind school – Agricultural program began at Hope Academy under the guidance of our graduated students
2023
DMM discipleship training was held in Liberia – More pastor’s trainings were held in multiple countries for the second round of 54TEN – Motare hosted the first Farming God’s Way agricultural training -Work began toward Hope Academy Upper School
2024
Motare taught Farming God’s Way in Uganda on mission trip -School water system – addition of tower -First HYM Retreat -Women’s Retreat in Uganda -Lower slab completed for upper school
2025
Began construction of garage -Upper slab completed for Hope Academy -Hope Campus goes on LEC electric -First trip into Kenya to Edward’s home -Dave and Bonnie Kirby move to Liberia to serve as missionaries -Many baptisms -Trip to Honduras -Began construction of Palava Hut at Refuge of Hope in Kenya -Continued work on Ugandan Hope Center -54TEN Pastor’s Trainings in many different countries
